Roadworthy / Safety Certificate
Selling a car or re-registering it in Queensland? You need a Safety Certificate, and we bring the inspection to your driveway. As a licensed Approved Inspection Station (A.I.S 13765, Examiner No. E21069) we complete your roadworthy on-site across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

A Queensland Safety Certificate confirms your vehicle meets the minimum safety standards to be on the road. It’s legally required before you sell a registered light vehicle or move registration into your name, and it covers items like brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, windscreen and body condition.
Because we’re fully mobile, there’s no need to book a workshop, take time off, or leave your car somewhere for the day. We inspect the vehicle where it is, your home, your work, or the seller’s address if you’re buying, and lodge the certificate electronically with Queensland Transport.
If something fails, you get a clear, honest explanation of what needs attention and a fair quote to put it right, often on the same visit.
The detail
What we check
Every inspection is carried out against the Queensland Light Vehicle Inspection Manual, the same standard every Approved Inspection Station in the state works to. Here is what that covers.
Wheels, tyres and brakes
- Tread depth, sidewall condition, age and damage on every tyre
- Tyre and rim sizing suitable for the vehicle
- Wheel bearings, studs and nuts
- Brake pad, disc and drum condition
- Brake lines, hoses and fluid for leaks and corrosion
- Service brake and park brake performance
Steering and suspension
- Steering box, rack, joints and linkages for wear and free play
- Shock absorbers and struts for leaks and effectiveness
- Springs, bushes, ball joints and control arms
- Wheel alignment faults severe enough to affect safety
Lights and electrical
- Headlights, including alignment and correct colour
- Brake lights, indicators, hazards and reverse lights
- Tail lights, number plate light and reflectors
- Horn operation
Body, chassis and glass
- Structural rust and accident damage
- Windscreen chips and cracks within the driver’s view
- Wipers and washers
- Doors, latches, hinges and mirrors
- Seats, seat mountings and seatbelts, including retraction and webbing
Engine, driveline and exhaust
- Exhaust system for leaks, excessive noise and smoke
- Engine and gearbox mounts
- Oil, coolant and fuel leaks
- LPG certification where the vehicle is gas fitted
A Safety Certificate inspection checks minimum safety standards. It is not a mechanical warranty or a guarantee of the vehicle’s condition or life expectancy, if you want that, book a pre-purchase inspection instead.
Vehicles
What we can certify
Cars, wagons and 4WDs
Standard passenger vehicles, SUVs and four-wheel drives up to 4,500kg GVM, including dual cabs.
Utes, vans and light commercials
Work vehicles and light commercial vans up to 4,500kg GVM, whether privately owned or on a business fleet.
Trailers and caravans
Queensland requires a safety certificate for trailers and caravans with an aggregate trailer mass (ATM) between 750kg and 4,500kg.
How it works
From booking to certificate
1. Book a time and place
Call or send an enquiry with your rego, the vehicle make and model, and where it will be. Home, work or a seller’s address all work, we come to the car.
2. On-site inspection
The vehicle is inspected where it sits, against the Queensland Light Vehicle Inspection Manual. You are welcome to watch and ask questions as we go.
3. Result explained in plain English
You get the outcome straight away, item by item, with anything that failed explained in terms you can actually act on rather than a list of codes.
4. Certificate lodged electronically
On a pass, the Safety Certificate is lodged directly with Transport and Main Roads and you get your copy. No separate trip to a testing station.
Honest outcomes
If your vehicle doesn’t pass
Plenty of cars fail on something small. Here is exactly what happens, so there are no surprises on the day.
- You get a written list of every item that failed and the reason it failed, so nothing is vague.
- You get a no-obligation quote to repair it. You are free to take that quote elsewhere.
- Many common fails, globes, wiper blades, brake pads, a park brake adjustment, can be repaired on the same visit.
- Once the repairs are done the vehicle is re-checked and, if it passes, the certificate is issued and lodged.
- A failed inspection is not a wasted one. You still get a clear picture of the car’s condition before you sell it or drive it.
